I don't normally put up shots of people I know on this blog, but I will make this exception once. I have been to many parts of China, and I have met many people there.
Whatever people may say about the politics of the country, I have always found the people across the country to be genuinely very nice, very friendly and very warm. This is one reason why I always remember my times in the country with the greatest fondness, why I want to continue to learn the language, and which is why I would like to continue to travel there for the rest of my life.
I worked with many people there, and the photo that you see in this entry, is just some of the people I worked with over the course of my five years in China. I took this shot when we went to the Great Wall at Mutianyu, and at that time I took the shot, as I liked the composition. I had never really thought of my life beyond China at that time, and it was a bit of a surprise for me when I moved to Singapore in 2006.
However, the people I worked with in China are some of the best people that I have met in my life, and they contributed so very much to making my time there a really fantastic time. If I were to say that I do love that bunch of people, it would not be an exagerration.
It is rare that you have an emotional connect with a people in the way that I experienced, and I can only say that I am thankful for the time that I spent with them, and that I am honoured to have known them.
For the weary traveller who may find his, or her way, into China, my advice would be only this: connect with the people. They will enrich you.
well I guess I could say this on behalf a lot of others: you're the only boss - whose departure rose so much emotion and immediate tears
