This is another IPhone entry.
There was a bomb blast at the Delhi High Court two days ago. I was headed in that direction, when I heard about it. Luckily, there was sufficient time for me to divert my path and to drive towards a safe direction.
11 people died, and 65 people were injured. I would think that public patience is thinning, and soon the government should wake up to the fact that fatalism will not work forever in India. Apart from looting the country, we do expect them to some good for the country.
Anyway, we drove along Parliament Street, or Sansad Marg, as it is called in Hindi. The road was jammed, and we had to alight and walk to the final meeting venue.
There was a protest march going on, or a 'morcha', as we call it. Confusion abounded for a while, as people kept yelling that this was a protest against the bomb that had been exploded an hour prior.
"We Indians have become very good at organising things", I thought as I walked along the road. My cynical self surfaced from time to time, as I also muttered "Free food for all those who join the protest..."
However, my initial hopes and dreams were dashed to the ground. This was, as I discovered, a protest that was organised by the Railway Workers Union.
Yelling, "Murdabad" (Down with...) and "Zindabad"(Long Live...) slogans to the cacophony of drums and loud speakers, there was enough street food going around to feed an army.
Food is important. So are basic rights.
It was indeed a day of protests. Later in the day, there were people protesting and, shouting slogans and heckling the politicians who made the obligatory photo-op visits to the High Court.
Life moves on, however.
Some die.
Others live on, to protest and to yell for their rights.
It is the Law of Nature
