A New Look At The World

Greenstalksm Macro photography represents a whole new way of looking at the world. This is something that I have started recently. And, it is something that I do need to learn. Hopefully, the photographs will improve with time.

It also represents exposes you to an entirely new discipline in terms of composition, aperture management and general camera management.

Shifts in position by just half an inch have a dramatic effect not only on the composition, but even in the areas of the picture that remain sharp.

The same applies to the aperture. It is  not enough to simply open the aperture to flatten the depth of field.

There are time when I find myself so close to  the subject that the depth of field is flattened automatically. There are times when you need to close the aperture, and the shutter speed becomes slow. A small puff of breeze can, depending on the situation, have a completely disatrous effect on the picture, and in such situations, a slow shutter speed does not help at all. In other situations, it can actually enhance the effect of the photo.

But mostly, it opens up a whole new world. The small becomes big in the camera, and you realize how amazing Nature is. It is not just the brilliant landscapes that make up the beauty of nature, but even the small plants and animals that do so as well. And honestly, landscapes are composites of particulate nature.

The small makes the big, and is independent of the big. Beauty in small things.
